The Youth find gardening a very interesting activity because it helps them to develop so many skills including; teamwork, collaboration,communication,planning and many other skills.We need to give them such opportunities to build their innovativeness.At Gayaza High School we are determined to allow all the girls to have such an opportunity and we are setting up a Young farmers’ society together with a teachers growers association.
We plan to have garden plots for all senior ones and then the different clubs will also have a garden plot each. Through the club activity we shall be able to reach out to the other continuing students. By 2018 all the students at Gayaza High School will have worked in a garden plot at least in their first year of school.We have also acquired land that the teachers can use to grow foodstuffs together as an association and sell to the school.
This a good idea for the girls to get familiar with the theoretical concepts always learnt in classroom
