Gayaza High School has embarked on the need to train the youth and interest them into functional agriculture. Train a woman in the best way and you will empower the nation. To us at Gayaza High School it is a priority that we bring out the best girl that will support the development of our country. The Senior one class 2013 has embarked on farming and in groups of five they have undertaken a plot of land to grow vegetables and other plants.
They will be able to sell their produce at the school dinning room department but also sell the excess to the teachers and any more to their parents. We also intend to grow enough food and continue providing some food to our community school. This is going to be part of our curriculum and a regular activity for senior one students. After their season the plots of land will fall vacant to be used by the other students through the different club groupings. Each club will be given a plot of land and encouraged to engage in farming for the benefit of acquiring skills for the club members as well as developing the entrepreneurial skills.
