What is eduroam?
eduroam is a secure global roaming wireless network for the research and education sector. eduroam in Australia is brought to you by AARNet (Australia’s Academic & Research Network).
eduroam allows users from participating institutions to gain secure wireless network access at other participating institutions across Australia and around the globe using the standard username and password credentials they use at their home institution for wireless network access.
eduroam is available at more than 25,000 locations worldwide. In Australia, 40 universities participate in eduroam, as well as a number of research institutes, hospitals, schools and cultural organisations.

Connect to eduroam wi-fi
The Monash wireless network is part of a multi‐university network known as eduroam.
How to connect and re-connect
If you were previously connected to eduroam, you’ll need to select it in your wi-fi settings and choose Forget network before following the below steps.
- From your wi-fi settings, select the network name eduroam
- Enter your Monash email address as your username
- Enter your Monash account password
- If you’re asked for:
- Certificate(s): Only trust a certificate signed by QuoVadis Certificate Authority (For Android devices, select Don’t Validate)
- EAP (if prompted): PEAP
- Phase 2 Authentication (if prompted): None
Widely available in most university campuses across Australia and New Zealand, eduroam is also used in the US, Canada, Europe and parts of the Asia-Pacific. Once you’re set up with eduroam, you’ll be able to connect at all participating universities without having to reconfigure your device.
The eduroam wireless network is available to all staff and students, as well as our guests from participating institutions.

How to connect and re-connect
If you were previously connected to eduroam, you’ll need to select eduroam in network settings, and then select Forget, before following the below steps.
- From the Home screen, tap Settings, then Wi-Fi
- Tap eduroam
