Gayaza High School

Gayaza Performing Arts (GAPA) Festival 2019

GAPA, the performing arts festival at Gayaza High School was held on 15th and 16th March, 2019.

The annual event is an inter-house competition whose aim is to promote students skill and creativity. This year the school’s theme is “SOARING TO NEW HEIGHTS”.

It is a very interesting and engaging time for the school to focus on the theme and work together to achieve her goals.

Practice kicked off on 8th March 2019 and evening saw house teams putting their heads together to fight for the top position. Tension, worry and anxiety rose as the days went by; each house thinking the other had better productions. It was up to the houses to gather more strength and fight on!

The items chosen for the competitions are recent to give students a platform where they can express themselves and exploit their potential. These include Poetry, Drama, Impromptu speech, Advert, Traditional Folk Dance, Western Solo piece, Western Choral singing, Contemporary Dance, Mime and Pop star.

It is amazing to see the quality of music and dance, the approach to the theme in drama, poetry and speech, and the confidence of the performers!

GAPA season brings many together in support of their houses; Students, housemistresses, teachers attached to the houses and parents. House leaders and house prefects leadership skills are put to test, stretched to mobilize their houses and boost their morale. The school administration takes keen interest and gives the much needed support for a successful event.

The colorful ceremony, GAPA FEST 2019 was crowned on Saturday, 16th March 2019 and parents were invited to attend. Their support is greatly treasured. The results were announced by the adjudicators as follows:
