This week we have embarked on a discussion about our main objective of reducing on the rate at which children drop out of school in Uganda.Uganda is said to have the highest school dropout rate in East Africa- http://www.mnnonline.org/news/uganda-has-highest-school-drop-out-rate-in-east-africa
Starting with our own members undertaking this project we want to make sure that they all progress to the secondary level. We have engaged in all the past activities to be able to give a soft landing for this discussion and yes we are learning a lot about the lives of these children. Many of them had little hope for continuing in school this year but it looks like they think they can now engage in some entrepreneurial activities and get some school fees. We are also praying that we get some partnerships to enable us support them in these initiatives. Otherwise our gardens are progressing though on a slow pace because of the hot weather and we had hoped to get some sales in future to support the children as they join school.
Our discussion is about, “WHY DO CHILDREN DROP OUT OF SCHOOL”? We are working on producing a media piece that can be used to make awareness to the public about this evil. In the process we are reflecting about our own lives.
