Day 20-21: Community Education Garden

Our Music, dance and drama classes are ongoing and very interesting. They have made us friendlier to each other and a lot of creativity is being exhibited by the youngsters trying to reflect on what they do in the garden work in order to build the play. We will be recording our Agricultural  play on Monday 13th January 2014 and our main aim is for the youngsters to produce a video that can inspire them and others to take Agriculture as a serious career. One of the immediate outcomes I can single out from this drama programme is the improvement in self confidence and speech especially in expressing themselves in English. We badly needed to improve on our spoken English since it is the medium of communication for all the lessons at secondary education level where we want the children to succeed.

Our challenges are not about to end but it is these very circumstances that should make the children more resilient in life. We wake up to fetch water at the borehole and water our plants but with love and interest. We keep removing any of the weeds that grow and count the plants that have come out from the ground hoping to have a new member to the family daily. Some of the children fell sick this week and have not been able to come so we take up their plots as a sign of friendship and caring for your neighbours’ property.
