Teachers Making a Difference 2019

There are times when you can hardly find the words to express your feelings, but be glorified, Oh God!

It was just ecstasy and bewilderment to hear my name announced as the 2nd Best Teacher in the country in The Teachers Making a Difference 2019 organized by Vision Group and the Irish Embassy an excited Tracy reminisces.

This was in recognition of the various community initiatives carried out by the Gayaza High School students /girls to create a change in our community, and ultimately groom Change Makers. Learning is not confined in the four walls of the classroom but a lot more is acquired during the co-curricular activities and community service. I am profoundly honored and extremely humble for this magnanimous recognition said Tracy.

Motivation and Activities

Tracy strongly believes that anyone can make a difference in the community regardless of their age. Thus, with my students, we support the teaching and learning process in the nearby UPE schools through provision of scholastic materials and other basic needs like food, encouraging and inspiring the girl child to keep in school, conducting leadership training and organizing health promotion activities for the community through the same schools under the auspice of the Uganda Child Cancer Foundation (UCCF) and Uganda Cancer Institute (UCI).

Secondly, one of our core values is Leadership. If we are to model the best leaders (since Gayaza receives some of the best girls in the country), they must not only excel academically but have empathy for their community. They also need to acquire the best education in the world to come back and serve their country.

I, therefore encourage and guide my learners to participate in local and international competitions and apply for scholarships in the best universities and colleges. Am glad to report that milestones have been achieved. It is for the same reasons, that we are now an ACT examining centre to provide our learners an opportunity to practice SAT, GRE, TOEFL or GMAT, well ahead of time for scholarship application.

  Appreciation

To 3C Club-Children Caring about Cancer, People to People International Club, Debate Club and all my learners, you are my Heroes. I earnestly pray this award inspires you to soar to greater heights every day. GHS Administration, kudos to you for creating such an enabling environment where both the students and the teachers can blossom; and to my colleagues, the teachers, you challenge me every other day to get better.

Congratulations teacher Tracy, congratulations Gayaza High School community. May you soar to greater heights. May God’s name be praised.

  2. I’m amazed, I have to admit. Seldom do I encounter a blog that’s equally educative and interesting, and let me tell
you, you’ve hit the nail on the head. The issue is something too few men and women are speaking intelligently
about. I am very happy I found this in my search for something
    concerning this.
