GAYAZA HIGH SCHOOL AT EAST AFRICAN SECONDARY SCHOOL SPORTS COMPETITION IN BUKEDEA AND MBALE FROM 16

This year, The Gayaza High School Tennis team participated in USSSA games that were held at Ndejje SS in May 2024 and emerged 4 hence qualifying to participate in FEASSSA 2024.

The team comprised of 6 six girls spear head by the patron- Ms. Sherinah Kemigisha, Head Technical – Mr. Nash and Head of department Mr. Nadide Paul.

The girls included Hellen Makumbi, Akello Jovanah, Nakigudde Gladys, Maria Peace Ainebyona, Namirembe Annalisa and Namulinda Elizabeth

The games were officially opened by HE. the President of Uganda at Bukedea Comprehensive School Football Arena on Sunday 17th August 2024. The event started at 9am and ended at 4pm.

Tennis officially started on Monday 18th August 2024 at Mbale Sports Club in Mbale. Due to the nature of the game, schools merged to form national teams instead of playing as individual schools. Two teams, A and B were formed and the Gayaza High School Students represented the nation as follows.

The girls sought good exposure playing number of matches with our counter parts from kenya, Rwanda and Tanzania.

The experience was challenging more so with the Kenyan counter parts as reported by the girls but the 12-day event was worthy not only a sport experience but a cultural, nature and fan touring the slopes of Mount Elgon climaxing at Sipi falls.
