At Gayaza High School, students get involved in a number of local and international collaborative projects aimed at having students develop the 21st century skills like: team work and collaboration; communication and self-expression; cross-cultural understanding; and critical thinking to mention but a few.
Under the Global Virtual Classroom Project the students of Gayaza High School (Uganda), Mt. Pleasant High School (California), and Athens District High School (Canada) have continuously worked as a team to produce a web site about “Violence in a teen’s world”, an issue they thought was important to them.
The web site is still a work in progress but we hope that the students will be through with the work by April, 2010 and that they’ll officially exhibit their work to the rest of the public. You can follow up the students’ work in progress at http://gvc0911.gvc09.virtualclassroom.org/
You can download the end of 2009 term 3 project report at http://gayazahs.sc.ug/news/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/Global-Virtual-Classroom-EOT-report.pdf
